Time Commitment

A JA Job Shadow visit is usually 4 to 5 hours.

JA Job Shadow takes high school students into the workplace to learn about careers. They are introduced to careers through one-day site orientation.

Students participating in the program will acquire and apply the skills needed in demanding and ever-changing workplaces. Students will develop job-hunting tools, such as networking, resumes, and interviewing skills.

JA Job Shadow

9th - 12th Grade

JA Job Shadow prepares students to be entrepreneurial thinkers in their approach to work. In-class sessions prepare students for a visit to a professional work environment, where they will face a series of challenges administered by their workplace hosts. Students learn how to research career opportunities and the skills needed to land and keep their dream job.

  • It's turnkey; JA provides the materials and training and will help arrange all JA Job Shadow days in advance

Pre-Event

JA will assign participating schools to your company site, coordinate with the schools to arrange transportation and provide student, teacher and JSD company coordinators with guide book materials.


Day of Event

Students arrive at company site and after attending a welcoming and brief company overview, they then spend time with their assigned volunteer.
