"The New
Untouchables"
Junior Achievement
is Part of the Solution
As our schools face increasing challenges to educate our
youth with the fundamentals of the 3 R's, noted author and Pulitzer
Prize winner, Thomas L. Friedman, recently wrote a compelling op-ed
piece in the New York Times that makes the case for helping students
develop the skills needed for tomorrow's global economy - the
same skills embodied in the programs and experiences delivered
by Junior Achievement. To read the article, go here.
To help prepare area youth for the future by
volunteering for a JA program, please contact Bernadette Byrd at

Bank of America &
Winston Elementary
JA in a
Day

Twenty-nine Bank of America volunteers partnered with Winston
Elementary in Edgewood ISD for their first JA in a Day event on
October 23rd. In just five short hours, over five hundred students
took part in a Junior Achievement program! In the words of one
volunteer, "I can honestly say this is an experience I will
never forget. I value the lessons that were learned and positive
impact/role we had on the children." Thank you to all the
volunteers and teachers that made this such a successful and fun
day!

Thanks to the Fall
Pirate Bowl-A-Thon Crew!
This year's Pirate Bowl-a-Thon is off to a great
start after our Fall crew raised over $31,000 for JA programs! Out
of our twelve partners, the top three fundraising companies were C.H. Guenther &
Son, Ernst
& Young, and KPMG. We were
especially proud of C.H.
Guenther & Son, and Deloitte
for doing an outstanding job in their very first year of
participation!
Our sincere thanks to all our company coordinators:
