| Najim Foundation Supports JA's
Title I Initiative |
|
|
Many thanks to the Harvey E. Najim
Family Foundation for their continued support of
the JA mission. The foundation generously
invested $50,000 for the 2008/2009 school year to
support JA programs at schools where the majority
of students are economically
disadvantaged.

JA's Fall Bowl-A-Thon is Set
to Make a
Splash!
Every year, businesses get
together to raise funds through JA's annual
Bowl-A-Thon. During the 2008-2009
school year, this event will help JA raise
approximately $460,000 to assist in providing
economic education programming to over 68,000
students in San Antonio and south Texas!
Companies find that participating in this event
has tremendous benefits:
·
Great organizational
team-builder
·
Significant community impact with little or no
cost to the company
· A fun-filled one-day experience
consisting of
2 games of bowling, shoe
rental, goodies, and
a JA
Bowl-A-Thon T-shirt.
JA will host a kick-off
luncheon to prepare coordinators with everything
they need for a successful event.
If you are interested in learning more about
the JA Bowl-A-Thon or would like to attend the
Fall Kick-Off Luncheon on August 20, 2008,
please contact Angie Gaida at 210.490.2007 ext.

Citi Banks on
JA
Programs
The Citi
sponsored Banks in Action program came to
a close this year with the national team
competition in New York City on June 30 and July
1. Three San Antonio high school teams
earned an invitation to test their skills against
students from all over the U.S. and
Canada. Staying in the Upper East Side
Marriott, the teams from O'Connor High School and
Clark High School had two intense days
competing in the banking simulation, as
well as the opportunity to visit one of Citi's
largest headquarter offices. The
students enjoyed seeing some of New York's
famous sites, and were very pleased to have one
team finish strong in fourth place. Our
sincere thanks go out to Citi for sponsoring their
exciting trip, to the teachers Roxanne Brown and
Pam Hummel, and to the students for exemplifying
San Antonio's
best! |

We extend our gratitude to the
stakeholders in Junior Achievement: the
professional educators who open
their doors and facilitate the business-education
partnership; community volunteers
who give their time and experience, board
of directors who provide insight and
leadership; and financial
supporters who supply much needed
resources. Through your combined effort,
Junior Achievement of South Texas was able to
impact the lives of over 65,000 students during
the 2007/2008 year, up over 18% from the prior
year. This, coupled with 16% growth in
revenue, has enabled the organization to extend
the impact of JA's programs and look to the
upcoming year with continued confidence. So
please join us in celebrating the success of this
past year, and thank you!
