Adopts
Coronado-Escobar Elementary School
Rackspace Managed Hosting has generously
decided to make Coronado-Escobar a better campus
inside and out. Rackspace employees have
brought JA programs to every kindergarten
through third grade classroom, reaching 385
students. Community Affairs Manager Mari
Aguirre says, "Our Rackers have had a blast
teaching children the importance of saving,
voting, and our community's development." In
addition, this Edgewood ISD school has
received new computers, fresh landscaping, a
newly painted and refurnished teacher's lounge,
and gifts for each class. In the
words of Principal Bertha Prieto, "We are
grateful for everything that our children and
staff have received from
[Rackspace]." |
Junior Achievement is proud to
present the results from the 2007 Fall Hollywood
Bowl-A-Thon! Not only did we reach our
goal, we exceeded it by $1,602.68 and raised a
total of $48,420.68! Many thanks to the
685 participants from 18 companies, as well as
our board members, coordinators,
bowlers, and donors for making this event a
great success! Please join us in
congratulating our top overall company, SWBC for
doubling their donations from last year, and in
welcoming three new organizations, Falcon
International Bank, Southwest Research
Institute, and Team Express.

New York Life Foundation Funds
Afterschool Programs
Junior Achievement of South Texas
is pleased to announce it has received
a $20,000 grant from New York Life Foundation
to support its Powering Their Potential initiative
to help students navigate the "business of life" -
practical work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and
personal finance skills - through Junior
Achievement's afterschool programs. The
initiative also seeks to provide at-risk
youth with positive role models from the local
community who will deliver JA's after-school
programs. |

selects JAST as Angel Award Recipient
Junior Achievement of
South Texas was selected as one of the recipients
of the "Angel Awards" of the San Antonio Hotel
& Lodging Association. SAHLA holds an
online auction of terrific gift opportunities with
the proceeds benefiting several local non-profits,
including JA. Please go here to
