JA Financial Literacy
New Program
Introduction
Junior
Achievement of South Texas is excited to
announce a new program offering: JA
Financial Literacy, which introduces
students to the importance of making wise
financial decisions. The program demonstrates
the importance of planning, goal setting, and
thoughtful decision-making within the context of
personal finance.
Designed for high school students, JA
Financial Literacy entails five
volunteer-led activities that encourage students
to acquire the information and gain the skills
necessary to take control of their personal
finances. Following participation in the
program, students will be able to:
- Examine the role money plays in achieving
lifelong personal goals.
- Make informed financial decisions.
- Protect themselves from unexpected financial
pitfalls

Join JA for the third annual Harbor Half
Marathon & Relay, presented by Valero,
benefiting JA programs in the Coastal Bend
region. The "Harbor Half" has many unique
features beginning with a footrace across Corpus
Christi's Harbor Bridge. It is the highest half
in Texas and will be guaranteed to challenge
even the most seasoned runners.
You can choose to run the half marathon,
participate in the Valero Corporate Cup
Challenge by entering as a team; or participate
in the Kid's Marathon, sponsored by H-E-B.
The Kids's Marathon is a great way to challenge
kids to participate in a fitness program that is
fun and focused with a purpose - not to mention
beneficial to the community, their peers, and
themselves.
The race will take place on Sunday, October
21, 2007. Help JA make this year's "Harbor
Half" bigger and better than the last, and
create a lasting impact in the Coastal
